The Pacific Logging Congress Live In-Woods Show will showcase both the Weyerhaeuser Vail Tree Farm, as well as active and static industry displays. The active sites provide an excellent opportunity to view the latest technology in timber-harvesting equipment.

TEACHERS

The PLC is dedicated to its mission of forestry education. This year we are inviting students and their teachers to come see firsthand what’s happening in your managed forests. We will have interactive trails, guided tours, skills competitions, potential career opportunities for the older students, and more. 

TRAVEL ASSISTANCE

The PLC wants to ensure every school that wants to attend can. If your school needs assistance with transportation costs, the PLC will reimburse schools for the cost of school buses and drivers. Just provide an invoice after the tour. 

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • At the parking area, busses will be given a tour guide and hardhats. All hardhats must be worn throughout the entire tour. Make sure all hard hats are fitted while in route to the show site.

  • No open-toed shoes will be allowed.

  • Students should bring a sack luck. 

  • Teachers must register students prior to the event.

  • Schools should allow at least 3 hours to complete a visit, with time for unloading/loading.

 

Buses and/or shuttle will be leave the parking lot approximately every 10 to 15 minutes. Students will be dropped off and picked up at the back entrance. 

We’re excited about this year’s show and the opportunity to provide information about our industry to the next generation!

VOLUNTEERS

REQUIREMENTS:

  • At the parking area, buses will be met by site host and given hardhats. All hardhats must be worn throughout the entire tour. Make sure all hard hats are fitted while in route to the show site.

  • No open-toed shoes will be allowed.

  • Students should bring a sack luck. Limited food access.

  • Teachers must register students prior to the event.

  • Event terrain is uneven and the trail is approximately a 1 mile hike.

  • Schools should allow at least 3 hours to complete a visit, with time for unloading/loading.

Volunteers receive many benefits including a free pass to the show, safety vest, talking points and interpretation materials.
