106TH PACIFIC LOGGING CONGRESS OFFICERS AND 2015 CONVENTION LOCATION AND DATES ANNOUNCED
PACIFIC LOGGING CONGRESS ANNOUNCES 2015 OFFICERS
The Pacific Logging Congress has elected officers to lead the group at its next two Annual gatherings. The following officers were announced at the 105th Annual PLC ~ 7th Woods Show located in Molalla, Oregon:
President – Todd Gordon, Caterpillar Forest Products, Graham, WA – will lead the 2015 convention held at the Hilton Waikoloa Village Resort on the Big Island of Hawaii.
1st Vice President – Doug Mays, Weyerhaeuser Co., Vancouver, WA – will look at holding the 2016 convention in San Diego, California.
Secretary – Treasurer (and 2009 PLC President) L.T. “Toby” Murray III President Murray Pacific Corp., Tacoma, WA
Executive Director – Rikki Wellman
Todd Gordon will lead the 106th Annual PLC in 2015. He has selected “The Future Is Here ~ Catch The Wave” for the theme. 2015 convention will be on the Big Island of Hawaii, at the Hilton Waikoloa Village Resort, November 8 – 11 2015. The program Co-Chairmen will be shared by PLC 1st VP Doug Mays and PLC director Jeff Wimer. Details of speakers and topics will be announced soon.
The summer meeting is planned for Tacoma, Washington area. July 10 – 13, 2017. Activities will include a ride on the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad, various tours, board meeting and group dinners.
Todd is the NA Forestry Corporate Accounts Manager for Caterpillar Forest Products. He is based out of Graham, Washington
Background on Todd Gordon
Todd works for the Forest Products Group of Caterpillar as the North American Forestry Corporate Accounts Manager. He joined Caterpillar with the 2007 purchase of the Forestry Equipment Division of Blount Inc. His 29 year career in the forest industry has included North American sales positions covering the Western US and Canada, the Lake States / Ontario and the Southeast US. During his career, he has also covered Korea and New Zealand. Todd moved to the Northwest in 1989.
Doug Mays is the Director of Operations, Western Timberlands where he oversees Weyerhaeuser’s Western Timberlands operations. He is based out of Vancouver, WA will preside over the 106th PLC in 2016.
Plans are now being developed for the 107th PLC convention planned for early November of 2016. More details will be shared at the 2015 convention.
The 107th PLC Summer Meeting will take place in Vancouver, Washington in late June or early July of 2016. Background on Doug Mays
Mays began his 31-year career in the forest industry as a Forest Engineering Intern in 1982 with Scott Paper in Hamilton, Washington. From there, he has held numerous roles as Field and Logging Engineer, Road Construction and Logging Foreman as well as Logging Superintendent with Willamette Industries in Lebanon, Oregon. And in 2002 with Weyerhaeuser Company, he served as company and contract Harvest Manager in the North Willamette Valley area. In 2006, Doug took over as the Team Leader for Coos Bay Operations and moved to the same role in Aberdeen, Washington in 2008 for Weyerhaeuser’s Coastal operations. In April of 2011, Doug was promoted to Director of Operations, Western Timberlands where he oversees Weyerhaeuser’s Western Timberlands operations.
